Monticello — BENEFIT FOR DARRELL E. DISHMAN

There will be a benefit singing and auction for Darrell E. Dishman in

West Monticello Subd. (at J. Worley Trucking) on Saturday, August 1. It will

begin at 2 p.m. The proceeds will cover medical bills and prosthetic limb.

DICKEN REUNION

Descendents and relatives of Sherod and Mollie Dicken will meet at the

copies of family pictures to share. A fun auction is planned. The Dicken

RESCUE SQUAD FUNDRAISER to begin

The Monticello/Wayne County Rescue Squad's annual fund drive will be

starting in the next few weeks. You should be receiving phone calls

concerning this in the upcoming month. All money received from this

fundraiser goes to pay for expenses and equipment used on emergency runs

made by the squad.



ARC CHRISTIAN CHURCH

The ARC Christian Church will be having a special preaching Sunday, July

26 at 6 p.m. with Bro. Vernon Rednour from Brian, Ohio. He will be bringing

his unique ministry to Monticello. Pastor Charlie Gibson and congregation

STARKS AND MEREDITH REUNION

The Starks and Meredith family reunion will be held Saturday, August 22

at the Monticello-Wayne County Park big shelter house. It will begin at 9

a.m. Bring a covered dish and enjoy the fun. There will be special

entertainment.



MHS CLASS OF 1959 50TH REUNION

The Monticello High School class of 1959 will have their 50th year

reunion on Saturday, August 8 at the Extension office meeting room at 5:30

PIERCY/UPCHURCH REUNION

Milton and Samantha Upchurch Piercy reunion will be held Saturday,

August 8 at 10 a.m. with lunch being served around 12 noon. The location

will be at Faith United Baptist Church shelter house on Ramsey St. (behind

Farmers Supply). Bring a covered dish and enjoy the day.



REVIVAL AT CHESNUT GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH

Revival services will begin at Chesnut Grove Baptist Church on July 26

at 7 p.m. nightly. The Evangelist will be Bro. Terry West. Bro. Clifford

Slagle and congregation invites everyone to attend.



BIG SPRINGS CHURCH

Revival services will begin at Big Springs Baptist Church on July 26 at

6:30 p.m. The evangelist will be Bro. Larry Fultz. Bro. Larry Foster, pastor

BENEFIT SINGING FOR JERRY BROCK

There will be a benefit singing for Jerry Brock on Saturday, July 25 at

Shopville Park (shelter 2) beginning at 12 p.m. The park is located across

from Shopville Elementary school. Jerry is going to need a liver transplant,

and has no insurance. All the donations and concessions will be going to the

Brock family. There will be many groups there singing: The Couch Family, Jim

Hyde, Singing Evangelists, Tim Ellison, Rodney and Kim Arnett, and Peggy

Inks.



ELDER ABUSE MEETING

The Lake Cumberland Area Development District Elder Abuse Council will

meet on July 30, 2009 at 10 a.m. (CDT), in the Russell Springs office. All

public officials, law enforcement officials, and concerned citizens against

DOBBS AND GIBSON FAMILY REUNION

MEADOWS-BLACK REUNION

The Meadows-Black reunion will be held at Greensburg Indiana Park

shelter house 6 on July 26, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Come bring old pictures,

wrapped presents for the secret auction. Cook your special food dish and

bring a drink.



EDWARDS FAMILY REUNION

The Edwards family reunion will be held Saturday, August 8 at the

Sportsman Club on Hwy. 90. Doors will open at 11 a.m. with lunch around 12

noon. Bring a dish of food and/or drinks and join in a day of sharing with

family and friends.



COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR

The Community Health Fair has been rescheduled to Friday, September 4 at

the Ky. National Guard Armory from 1-6 p.m.

Free health screenings will be done onsite as well as special emphasis

W.C. EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER

The W.C. Early Childhood Center is finalizing their registration for the

upcoming 2009-2010 school year. Parents wishing to enroll their preschoolers

Albany Rd.



HUFFAKER FAMILY REUNION

The descendents of Johan Michael Huffaker, John Marion, and Lou Huffaker

will be holding their Huffaker family reunion on Saturday, July 25 starting

at 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Monticello United Methodist Church

Fellowship. On July 24 bring photos, family history books, etc. and register

your attendance for Saturday.

Please bring a side dish or dessert, along with photos and lots of

stories. Barbeque and drinks will be provided. Donations will be appreciated

for food and set up. We had a great time last year with family coming from

surrounding states, so relatives who live in the local area that have

Huffaker ties, come out and enjoy the fun as well. Please call Mary so we

LAKE CUMBERLAND DISTRICT

There will be a meeting held at the Lake Cumberland Area Development

District in Russell County on July 23 at 4 p.m. (CST). The public is

encouraged to attend.



MIRACLE TENT SERVICE

A large tent meeting will be held through July 31 on the corner of Hwy.

192 and Hwy. 1003, in the Mt. Victory community of Pulaski County, Ky.

Praise and Worship with local musicians and singers and then continue into a

"Fresh Touch from God" in word and demonstration of His Power.

COFFEY REUNION

The descendants of Lewis and Parmelia Ann Tucker Coffey and Henderson

"H" and Margaret Coffey will hold their family reunion on August 8 at the

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH

The "Drug Free" Back to School Bash will be held Friday, July 31, 2009,

beginning at 6-9 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. All school age kids and youth

SPECIAL SINGING AT BETHESDA UMC

There will be a special singing at Bethesda United Methodist Church on

Sunday, July 19 at 7 p.m. featuring Living Stone-Louise Frost and Keeland

Gregory. Everyone is welcome.



W.C. YOUTH FOOTBALL

There will be advanced signup for youth football for any Wayne County

student, grades 3-6. Signup will be held on July 25 and August 1, from 9-12

a.m. at H & W Sports Shop. There will be a fee.



RAMSEY REUNION

The annual Ramsey reunion will be held Saturday, August 1 at the ASPIRE

Center in Monticello, Ky. (please note the location change). Doors will open

at 3:30 p.m. Meal will be served at 4:30 p.m. (ET). Everyone please bring a

covered dish and an item for the auction.

Plans are being made to make a family DVD, so please bring pictures of

your family members through the generations so they can be scanned.



FARM SERVICE AGENCY REMINDER

Acreage reporting and DCP/ACRE deadlines are approaching. The Farm

Service Agency would like to remind everyone of the following dates: August

14 is the final crop acreage reporting date. DCP/ACRE deadlines is also

August 14. Individual postcards will not be mailed reminding producers to

come in the office to sign forms. Please stop by the USDA Service Center or

BYRD AND ZACHARY REUNION

The descendants of William Harrison Byrd and Lucinda Hildreth Zachary

will be holding the 30th annual Byrd-Zachary reunion on Saturday, July 25,

The Wayne County Health Dept. will be holding free classes, "Living Well

BOSTON FAMILY REUNION

The Boston Family Reunion will be held Saturday, August 1 at the Boston

farm at Mill Springs beginning at 10 a.m. The farm is located off Highway

1275 near the 12 mile marker at 579 Boston Road, which is between Mill

Springs Park and Conley Bottom Dock road. This reunion is for descendants of

John Preston Boston and Nancy Duncan.

A potluck meal will be served about noon. All relatives and friends are

invited to attend.



WCHS CLASS OF 1969 40TH REUNION

The Wayne County High School Class of 1969 will have their 40th year

reunion on Saturday, October 10 at the Wayne County High School Cafeteria.



CAYLOR REUNION

There will be a Caylor Reunion this coming August in Monticello, Ky.

Details have been mailed to descendants of Pleasant and Tamsey Caylor. We do

not have addresses for a lot of the descendants of their daughter, Martha

Caylor Roberts, who married Reuban Roberts or descendants of Mary Ellen

Caylor Bell (Pleasants sister) who is married to Silas Bell. If any of these

The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday from

W.C. HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION

The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring and

fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas

Party and participation in community events like Old Fashion Days. As a

result of our fund raising efforts, we provide continuing education

The ŒBetter Late Than Never' group of narcotics anonymous meets every

AA-ALANON is meeting Monday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the First

CABELL GROVE UMC ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR UPKEEP OF CEMETERY

Cabell Grove United Methodist Church is now accepting donations for the

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

Perhaps you would like to share a craft at Heritage Skills Retreat at the

Kentucky Leadership Center in Jabez. For more information on these

LAKE CUMBERLAND FAMILY CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

support group on the third Friday of each month in McCreary County. In Wayne

County, the group meets on the third Thursday of each month in Monticello.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity will meet the second Tuesday of each month at First

Baptist Church. The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. You may park and enter at

the back of the building. This is a Christian organization that works to

better the community.



CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

support group on the third Thursday of each month. The group will meet at 10

a.m. at the Wayne County Public Library, 159 S. Main, Monticello, Ky. After

a short presentation from our featured speaker, the fun will begin with

GROWING HEALTHY KIDS COALITION

The Growing Healthy Kids Coalition would like for anyone concerned with

our children's health to come to Coalition meetings. Come and share your

ideas to help our children grow strong and healthy. The Coalition meets the

last Tuesday of each month at 3:30 p.m. at the Wayne County Hospital. For

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren't able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer's Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a "Sit and Sew" day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come

for an hour or so and bring a project to work on.
