PUBLIC OCCURRENCES

Monticello — STATE SERVICE OFFICER FOR D.A.V. WILL NO LONGER BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS BUILDING

Pauline Conner, State Service Officer for the Disabled American

Veterans, will not be at the Senior Citizens Building any more. She will be

working out of her home doing service work for all veterans and their

TUGGLE REUNION

The Tuggle Reunion will be September 27 at the Monticello-Wayne County

Park in the large shelter house. Bring a covered dish and spend the day with

AWANA PROGRAM TO BEGIN AT STEUBENVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH

Attention parents: You and your children are invited to participate in

the AWANA program each Wednesday night at Steubenville Baptist Church. It

begins with Registration Night, this Wednesday, September 9 from 6:15-7 p.m.

Refreshments will be provided. The buses will begin running the next

Wednesday, September 16. The AWANA program exists for helping churches and

parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ.

REVIVAL AT CABELL GROVE METHODIST CHURCH

Cabell Grove Methodist Church will be hosting a revival September 17-20

at 6:30 p.m. There will be different evangelists and singers each night. On

Thursday night, Charles Huddleston will bring the message and the Cabell

Grove Singers will provide special music. On Friday, Bill Rammage will be

the evangelist and the special singers will be Billy Flatt and Jimmy Roy.

Larry Brown will be the evangelist on Saturday and the Wootin Sisters will

be the special singers. On Sunday, Leland Humphrey will be the evangelist

and the special singers will be Leland and Bernice Humphrey. Everyone is

welcome to attend. The church is located seven miles off Hwy. 90 on Hwy.

TENT REVIVAL

A tent revival featuring various evangelists, preachers and singers

(Pentecostal, Church of God, Holiness, etc.) will be held at the corner of

Hwy. 90 and Hwy. 1275 in Monticello September 14-28 at 7 p.m. For more

OLD FASHION DAY AT CENTRAL UNION SEPARATE BAPTIST CHURCH

Central Union Separate Baptist Church will be having Old Fashion Day on

Sunday, September 13 at 10 a.m. There will be special singing, preaching,

and dinner. The pastor, Bro. Rodney Smith, and the congregation invite

everyone to attend.



RUSSELL AND ALICE JONES/DAVIS REUNION

The Russell and Alice Jones/Davis Reunion will be held on Saturday,

September 19 at the Wayne County Senior Citizen Building. Please bring a

covered dish and join us for a time of fellowship and food. Lunch will be

served around noon. Hope to see you there.



HUMANE SOCIETY TO MEET

The Humane Society will be holding its monthly meeting Thursday,

September 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the public library basement. New members and

concerned citizens welcome.



20TH ANNUAL FRIENDS OF LAKE CUMBERLAND CLEANUP

The 20th Annual Friends of Lake Cumberland Cleanup will be held

Saturday, September 19. Volunteers and concerned citizens are invited to

help clean up trash, old tires and appliances, etc. that litter the

shoreline.

Participants should check in on the day of the event at 9 a.m. EDT/9

a.m. CDT at one of the following locations: Grider Hill Dock, Lake

Cumberland State Dock Ramo, Cave Springs Marina, Conley Bottom Marina,

Waitsboro Recreation Area and General Burnside Island State Park.

Volunteers are then invited to either General Burnside Island at 3 p.m.

EDT or Lake Cumberland State Park at 3 p.m. CDT for a free cookout. Door

prizes will be given away as well.

HOMECOMING SERVICES AT MT. PISGAH BAPTIST CHURCH

Homecoming services will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Sunday,

September 13 beginning at 10 a.m. There will be special singing and

THOMPSON REUNION

The Thompson family reunion will be held Saturday, September 26 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park at the shelter house located by the main

office. We will begin at 10 a.m. with lunch being served around 12 noon.

SPECIAL SINGING AT ARC CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

The ARC Christian Fellowship will be having special singing, country

The Monticello/Wayne County FCA is sponsoring a free concert featuring

³Wavorly,² with Rising Son Ministries. It will be held on Saturday,

DOSS REUNION

The Jim and Julia Thorton Doss 22nd family reunion will be held

Saturday, September 26 at the Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park. It will

begin at 10 a.m. at the large shelter house next to the tennis courts.



BELL REUNION

The Bell family reunion will be held Saturday, September 12 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park large shelter house. We will begin eating

around 12 noon. Come early and visit with everyone.



DAVIS REUNION

The annual Davis reunion (descendants of Tatum T. and Minerva Ann Marsh

Davis) will be held Saturday, September 12 from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. at

the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church. Lunch will be served at 12

noon. All relatives and friends are invited to join the fun and fellowship.

Davis/Marsh family history.



STRINGER/WEST REUNION

The John and Bessie Stringer West family reunion will be held on

Saturday, September 19 at the Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park, big

shelter house. We will begin at 10:30 a.m. will lunch served at 12 noon. All

friends and relatives are invited to attend.



WCHS CLASS OF 1999

The W.C.H.S Class of 1999 reunion, will be held Saturday, October 17

beginning at 6 p.m. at the Monticello Country Club. If you are interested in

MALONE FAMILY REUNION

The Malone family reunion will be held Saturday, September 12 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park. It will be held at the same shelter house as

WCHS CLASS OF 66

The WCHS Class of 66 will be holding a reunion on October 3. It will be

GEAR UP SPONSORING BACK TO SCHOOL DANCE

The Gear Up Program at the W.C. Middle School will be sponsoring a

³Welcome Back to School Dance² on Friday, September 11 from 7-9 p.m. in the

W.C. Middle School gym. The cost and admission is free and is only open to

W.C. Middle school students.

Parents are asked to sign their children in at 6:30 in the front

entrance, then stay for a short meeting. For more information parents may

ABBOTT REUNION

Family and friends of the late Abb and Lean Abbott Reunion will be held

at the Monticello/Wayne County Park on Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m.

Come bring a cover dish and enjoy the day.



MARTIN/FOSTER REUNION

The descendants of the late Fannie Belle Martin Burris are having a

reunion on Saturday, September 19 at the Farm Bureau Building. The reunion

will start at 10:30 a.m. and lunch will be at 12 noon. Bring a covered dish

and any photos you want to share.



SOUTHERN CHARM AND PRISS PAGEANT

There will be a Southern Charm and Priss Pageant sponsored by Ido

Signature Events and Mikki Simmons Photography and Design. All proceeds will

go to the W.C. Varsity Cheerleaders Booster Club. The ages will be 0 months

up to 6 year old boys and girls and 7-15 year old girls only. Attire request

Sunday best/Pageant. Registration will be held at Pickrell Auditorium on

September 19 beginning at 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. The pageant will begin at

12 noon (EST).

MILL SPRINGS MILL

The Mill Springs Mill will be closed from time to time to the public for

restoration work. The mill will remain open for weekend and holiday

visitation. The work is expected to be completed by October. For more

NEAL/BLEVINS FAMILY REUNION

The Neal/Blevins family reunion will be held September 12 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park at the Shelter house located near the Hwy.

Bring lots of food, come early and hope to see a big crowd there. Lunch

will be served around 12 noon.



REVIVAL AT FREEDOM UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH

There will be revival services at Freedom United Baptist Church

beginning on Sunday, August 30 at 7 p.m. and will continue nightly at 7 p.m.

The evangelists will be Bros. Cubby and David Clark. Pastor Denzil Branscum

and congregation invites you to attend.



CHILDREN¹S QUILT CLASS

The Contented Heart Quilt Shoppe at 24 North Main Street will be

offering a weekly children¹s quilt class beginning on September 14 at 3:30

p.m., or as soon as students can get there from school. Individuals will

piece a small wall hanging using the sewing machine and then hand quilt it.

Class fee will be $6.

ALL BREED FALL FUN HORSE SHOW

The W.C. Horseman¹s Association and High Hopes 4-H presents an All Breed

Fall Fun Horse Show on Saturday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. (EST).

It will be held at the Monticello/Wayne County Park.

SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC

The Wayne County Humane Society will be sponsoring a spay and neuter

clinic on October 8-9 at the Monticello-Wayne County Park. The cost per cat

is $55 and the cost per dog is $65.

There will be a limited number of free spay or neuters available through

a state grant on a first come basis for low income families.

Proof of household income must be presented at registration, no

exceptions.

Sign-ups will be held at McDonald¹s on September 24 from 4-7 p.m.

E-911 COMMENDS RESIDENTS WHO HAVE POSTED NEW ADDRESS

The E-911 Mapping and Addressing Office would like to commend those who

have posted their new address on the dwelling and on both sides of the

mailbox.

Residents who have done this and have notified correspondents of the new

E-911 address will not have any interruption in mail service. However, if

you have not notified them before December 31 you will experience mail

delays as the post office will not deliver to mail addressed with the old

address as of January 1, 2010.

If you have not put your new number on your dwelling or mailbox or

notified your correspondents, please do so for your safety and to receive

uninterrupted mail service before December.



WCHS CLASS OF 1969 40TH REUNION

The Wayne County High School Class of 1969 will have their 40th year

The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday from

Tuesday at 7 p.m. and a Saturday Intercessory prayer is held at 4:30 p.m.

There will be a Pick and Play for musicians on the Meeting Place

Be a part of young people¹s lives in the Youth Empowerment Network

W.C. HORSEMAN¹S ASSOCIATION

The Wayne County Horseman¹s Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring and

fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas

Party and participation in community events like Old Fashion Days. As a

result of our fund raising efforts, we provide continuing education

Anyone having family buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery is asked to donate to

NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS MEETING

The ŒBetter Late Than Never¹ group of narcotics anonymous will meet on

every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night at 7:30 p.m. EST at the City Hall

AA-ALANON MEETING

AA-ALANON is meeting Monday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the First

Methodist Church.



CABELL GROVE UMC ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR UPKEEP OF CEMETERY

Cabell Grove United Methodist Church is now accepting donations for the

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

Perhaps you would like to share a craft at Heritage Skills Retreat at the

Kentucky Leadership Center in Jabez. For more information on these

LAKE CUMBERLAND FAMILY CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

support group on the third Friday of each month in McCreary County. In Wayne

County, the group meets on the third Thursday of each month in Monticello.

After a short presentation from our featured speaker, there will be bingo,

food and prizes. For time, location and further information call Susan

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity will meet the second Tuesday of each month at First

Baptist Church. The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. You may park and enter at

the back of the building. This is a Christian organization that works to

better the community.



CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

support group on the third Thursday of each month. The group will meet at 10

GROWING HEALTHY KIDS COALITION

The Growing Healthy Kids Coalition would like for anyone concerned with

our children¹s health to come to Coalition meetings. Come and share your

ideas to help our children grow strong and healthy. The Coalition meets the

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren¹t able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher¹s aide test.)

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

greatly appreciated.



WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER¹S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer¹s disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer¹s Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer¹s disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a ³Sit and Sew² day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come
