7-13-11 — SONGWRITER'S WORKSHOP

There will be a Songwriter's Workshop where you can learn how to

write marketable songs, info. copyrights, demo services, publishing/

distribution and more. The workshop will be held at 2144 Hwy. 3106

REVIVAL IN PROGRESS AT BETHEL BAPTIST CHURCH

Bethel Baptist Church at Parmleysville is currently having revival

this week. Everyone is welcome to attend. Services start at 7 p.m.

Bro. Harold Smith is the evangelist and Bro. Lawrence Haynes is the

pastor.

MEADOW CREEK BAPTIST CHURCH WILL HOST A SINGING

Meadow Creek Baptist Church will be hosting a singing on Sunday,

July 17 at 6 p.m. The featured guest will be the Coffey Family. The

pastor is Bro. Howard Slagle.

MORROW REUNION

Sherman and Polly Jane Dick Morrow and V.A. and Hattie Gregory

Morrow family reunion will be held on July 23 at the Senior Citizens

building in Monticello. All relatives and friends are welcome. For

SIMPSON FAMILY REUNION

The Watson-Simpson Family reunion will be held Saturday, July 30 at

the Senior Citizens building. Fried chicken, coffee, and dinnerware

will be furnished. Everyone please bring a covered dish and a gift

for the white elephant sale. Dinner will be a noon. Bro. Elmer Watson

will hold a service at Old Sandusky Cemetery at 11 a.m. Everyone is

invited to attend.

VETERANS

ASSISTANCE

OFFICER TO ASSIST AREA VETERANS

Gary D. Jones, Field Representative for the Kentucky Dept. of

Veterans Affairs, will be available to assist area veterans in Wayne

Co. at the National Guard Armory. He will be there on Tuesday, July

19 from 9 a.m. through 12 p.m. Veterans and their families will be

provided counseling and assistance in filing claims for state and

federal benefits. This is a free service provided by the state of

Kentucky. Veterans should bring a copy of their DD214 with them, if

they have any questions, you may call Gary D. Jones, Regional Field

CEMETERY SERVICE

There will be a church service held at the Morrow Cemetery, just off

Zion Road on Sunday July, 17 at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

REVIVAL SERVICE AT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

Zion Baptist Church will be having revival services beginning on

Sunday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. nightly. Bro. Mike Smedley will be the

evangelist. Bro. Eric Criswell and the congregation invite everyone

to attend.

LIVING WELL WITH DIABETES CLASSES

The Wayne County Health Department will be having free Living Well

with Diabetes classes. The classes will be held on Tuesday from 1 to

3:30 p.m. EST on August 9, 16, 23 and 30 and also on October 4, 11,

18 and 25. There will also be night classes offered from 5 to 7 p.m.

EST with class one on July 18 and class two on September 19.

There will be Graduate Classes for those who have already completed

the 4 class series. The advanced class will be held on October 4 from

10 to 11 a.m. EST. You must pre-register for the class by calling

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AT FIRST CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

Vacation Bible School will be held at the First Church of the

Nazarene, 2575 East Highway 90, Monticello, Monday, July 18 through

Thursday, July 21 and Saturday, July 23 from 6 until 8 p.m. Classes

are for ages three up to sixth grade (just completed).

The theme is "Mission to Mars: Meet a Risen Savior."

SEND OFF EVENT FOR VBS

There will be a send-off event for Vacation Bible School at the

First Church of the Nazarene, as part of this year's theme "Mission

to Mars: Meet a Risen Savior." The send-off is set for Sunday, July

17 at 7 p.m. at the church park, behind the church.

BAPTIST CHURCH VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Steubenville Baptist Church will be having Vacation Bible School

July 11-15 from 6 to 9 p.m. for grades 3-6. The theme this year is

PandaMania.

WAYNE COUNTY BIGGEST LOSER CHALLENGE

The Wayne County Biggest Loser Challenge will start on Thursday,

July 14 from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Wayne County Health Department. This

will be a fun, free 13-week physical activity, nutrition and weight

loss program for all ages.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AT OAK GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH

Oak Grove Baptist Church will be having Vacation Bible School

Sunday, July 17-Thursday, July 21 starting at 6 p.m. This year's

theme is PandaMania. Come each night to learn more about the Bible,

missions, crafts, and more.

FREE CLASSES ON HOW TO STOP

SMOKING

The Wayne County Health Department will have free classes on how to

stop smoking using the Cooper/Clayton Method. Classes will start on

July 14 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. The class size is limited. For more

SINGING DOWN ON THE FARM

The 9th Annual Singing Down on the Farm will be Saturday, July 16 at

6 p.m. at 1630 Leslie Road, Hwy. 691, Burkesville, Ky. Special guests

include The Singing Cookes, Cooke Brothers and The Sneed Family.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. Concessions will be

EAGLE'S NEST

INVITATIONAL

The annual Eagle's Nest Country Club Men's Invitational Tournament

will be July 23-24. The field is limited to the first 150 golfers.

There will be an entry fee. Each participant may sign up for a 9-hole

golf scramble and social event July 22 at 5:30 p.m. (there will be an

FOR SALE

Copies of "Heavenly Delights," a cookbook compiled by members of

Spann Hill Baptist Church, are still available. The cookbooks cost

It's time again for the Sparks-Meredith reunion. It will be held

August 20 at the Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park in the big

shelter house starting at 10 a.m. All family and friends are asked

KY PROUD FOOD PRESERVATION AND COMMUNITY

CANNING DAYS

KY Proud Food Preservation and Community Canning Days are here.

Tomatoes, Soups and Salsa will be on July 25 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6

p.m. Open canning days will be August 1-5 and 8-12 from 8 a.m. to 4

p.m. You can come use our pressure canners, hot water bath canners

and kitchens to can your produce. FCS staff will be on hand to assist

and answer any questions. All classes will be held at the Cooperative

KENTUCKY FOOTHILLS THIRD ANNUAL EAGLES NEST CAMP

MEETING 2011

The Kentucky Foothills Third Annual Eagles Nest Camp Meeting will be

held at the Albany Fairgrounds July 14-16 from 6-7 p.m. The special

singers will be The Blantons, The Schofields and Shawna Huesman.

There will be a special youth service. The special preaching will be

done by Dr. Todd Br. Zike, Mr. Donnie Bunch and evangelist Mike

Blanton. Call for RV hookups; we have some free limited spaces.

UNITED WAY OF SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY GOLF SCRAMBLE

The United Way of South Central Kentucky 26th Annual Golf Scramble

will be held on August 3 at Eagle's Nest Country Club. There is a

four-person scramble format (golfers must wear collared shirts).

There is a cost of $75 per player or $300 per team which includes

green fees, carts, prizes, mulligans and skirts. The deadline for

entries is August 1.

 

DONATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR TAYLOR'S GROVE CEMETERY

Donations are needed for the upkeep of the Taylor's Grove Cemetery.

WAYNE COUNTY FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETINGS

The Wayne County Family Resource Center Advisory Council conducts

meetings on the second Wednesday of every other month at 12 noon in

the Family Resource Center office at Bell Elementary office at Bell

Elementary.

 

WAYNE COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMEN MEETINGS

The WRW (Wayne Republican Women) meets the second Tuesday of each

month at 5 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. Everyone interested in

WAYNE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY MONTHLY MEETINGS

The Wayne County Humane Society will hold monthly meetings starting

in April and continuing until September on the third Tuesday of every

month. The meetings will be held at the United Methodist Church

starting at 6 p.m.

 

WAYNE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1960-61 50TH CLASS REUNION

The Wayne County High School Class of 1960-61 will be celebrating

their 50th reunion on September 2 and 3. Everyone who attended class

from 1957-58 and 1960-61 is invited to attend. For reservations and

The local Wayne County KY-ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy)

Board meets the first Thursday of February, June, August, October,

December in 2011 at 8:30 a.m. in the Wayne County Hospital Conference

Room.

NEW COVENANT FELLOWSHIP CHURCH SERVICE AND LUNCH

New Covenant Fellowship Church will be having a covered dish lunch

after 10 a.m. the first Sunday of every month. The church is located

COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS LAKE CUMBERLAND CHAPTER

A local chapter of The Compassionate Friends has been started in the

Monticello area. The Compassionate Friends is a mutual assistance,

self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to

families who have experienced the death of a child. The organization

welcomes bereaved parents, adult siblings, grandparents, and

immediate family members to its meetings.

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Monticello

United Methodist Church, 145 Michigan Avenue at 7 p.m. For additional

OPEN GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

An Open Grief Support Group, hosted by Hospice of Lake Cumberland,

will be held the second Monday of every month from 6-8 p.m., EST at

the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Monticello office, located at 1219

North Main Street, Suite 5.

MONTICELLO ELEMENTARY SBDM MEETING

Monticello Elementary SBDM will meet on the second Tuesday of the

month at 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center.

Old Charity Cemetery is in need of donations for the mowing of the

DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 105 and Auxillary meets the

first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center

on Columbia Ave. All veterans welcome.

W.C. HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH

The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to

join them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the

conference room of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared

interest in the horse. Membership, however, does not require horse

ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring

and fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing,

Christmas Party and participation in community events. As a result of

our fundraising efforts, we provide continuing education

MONTICELLO MS GROUP

The Monticello MS Group's monthly meeting will be temporarily moved

to McDonald's in Monticello. The meetings take place the first

Thursday of each month. Everyone interested is invited to attend.

 

DAAD MEETING

Come to a Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD) meeting and help

take back your community from drugs. DAAD meets each fourth Thursday

night at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. The meetings are free and

open to everyone who would like to attend.

 

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE

Center. Celebrate Recovery is a free Christ centered support group

for anyone who has hurts, habits, or hangups which includes just

STATE SERVICE OFFICER WILL BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER EACH WEDNESDAY

Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans,

will be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m.

until 3 p.m. Any veterans or dependents in need of assistance should

stop by during these hours.

 

W.C. REPUBLICAN WOMEN'S CLUB

The Wayne County Republican Women's Club meets the second Tuesday of

SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER ACTIVITIES

The Wayne County Senior Citizens Center offers a variety of

activities: grocery shopping, monthly blood pressure checks, day and

afternoon shopping trips, an annual health clinic, exercise daily,

health and nutrition speakers, transportation to and from the center,

well-balanced meals served at 11:30 a.m., Canasta Club and Rook card

The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday

from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There is a

service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and a Saturday Intercessory prayer is

held at 4:30 p.m. The Life Abundant Ministry healing room provides a

different guest speaker every Tuesday evening service.
