AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE PROGRAM

    AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and  moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. The  AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site in Wayne County is located in the  basement of Monticello City Hall. The site will be open February 5  through March 7 on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-5  p.m. The site will be closed on February 12 due to the special election.



CHILI SUPPER FUND RAISER FOR C/BTRY 1/623

    Charlie Battery 1/623 FA will be having a chili supper fund raiser  on February 16 at 5 p.m. at the Monticello Armory to help support the  needs of  the unit while they are deployed. Sage Knoll will be  preforming. If you have any questions please call the Armory.



ELDER ABUSE

MEETING

    The regional meeting of the Lake Cumberland Area Development  District Elder Abuse Council will be January 31. The meeting will  start at 10 a.m. CDT in the district conference room in Russell  Springs. FREE POTTERY WHEEL LESSON

    There will be a free pottery wheel lesson  offered at the Extension  Office.  The class will be broken down into three parts. Part 1 will  be the construction of the wheel on Monday, January 28. You can  attend one of the following times: 10 a.m.-12 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5  p.m., or 6-8 p.m. Part 2 will be held Tuesday, January 29 and will be  constructing the lids/handles. You can attend one of the following  times: 1-3:30 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m. Part 3, glazing will be held on  

Tuesday, February 5. You can attend either the 1-3:30 p.m. or 6-8:30  p.m. class.



LEARNING TO CONTROL DIABETES CLASS

    There will be a free learning to control diabetes class held at the  Wayne County Health Department on Tuesday, February 5, 12, 19 and 26  from 1-3:30 p.m. Classes are free but pre-registration is required.  Call 348-9349 ext. 1166 to register today.



ACRYLIC PAINTING CLASS

    There will be an acrylic painting class on Thursday, January 31 that  is designed for any beginner learning to accurately balance a  painting through tracing organic shapes. This class is free of charge

DRAWING

PORTRAITS CLASS

    There will be a drawing portraits class held on January 24 that is  

designed to show you the placement and measurements of drawing facial  

details. The class is free and you can either attend the 1-3:30 p.m.

MONTICELLO SCHOOL

HOMECOMING

    Homecoming at Monticello School will be held on January 25. All  

former queens are invited to participate this year. Con-tact Jamie

HEARTS FOR

HOSPICE EVENT

    Hearts for Hospice will be having a celebration dinner and dance on  

February 14 at 6 p.m. at The Rural Development Center. Hospice for  

Lake Cumberland will be hosting a semi-formal dinner and dance to  

celebrating the opening of the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle  

Care Center. Klassic Tymes will be providing the entertainment and  

Fatmans BBQ will be catering. There will also be a silent auction.

AWANA PROGRAM AT STEUBENVILLE

BAPTIST CHURCH

    Steubenville Baptist Church will be having their AWANA program each  

Wednesday night at Stubenville Baptist Church. The AWANA program  

exists for helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and  

youth to know, love and serve Christ. We look forward to seeing you

DAAD MEETING

    Anyone concerned with our growing drug epidemic is welcome to the  

DAAD meeting on Thurs-day, January 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center.

BELL ELEMENTARY SBDM COUNCIL MEETING

    The Bell Elementary SBDM Council conducts regular monthly meetings  

on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the school library.  

All members of the school community and general public are cordially  

invited to attend.

ANIMAL HAVEN RESCUE AND CARE CENTER MONTHLY MEETINGS

    The Animal Haven Rescue and Care Center has monthly meetings every  

fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. at 208 Frisby Street. Everyone is welcome to  

attend.

    Donations are being accepted for the mowing and upkeep of the Ingram

    TOPS weight loss support group meets every Monday night from

BENCHMARK FAMILY SERVICES FOSTER PARENT ORIENTATION CLASSES

    Benchmark Family Services-Foster Care Agency is offering free  

orientation classes every Tuesday from 5-6 p.m. to anyone interested  

in becoming a foster parent or wishing to obtain information about  

fostering. The office is located at 200 S. Vine Street, Somerset.

WAYNE CO. HUMANE SOCIETY MEETING

    The Wayne County Humane Society meets on the third Tuesday of each

150th YEAR COMMEMORATIVE CIVIL WAR CALENDAR and REPRINTS OF WAYNE  

COUNTY TIMES ILLUSTRATED AVAILABLE

    The 2012 Wayne County Historical Society 150th Year Commemorative  

Civil War Calendar is available for $10 each.

    In addition, reprints of Wayne County Times Illustrated, edited and  

published by Jerry Gibson Vol. 1, Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are available.  

The cost for each is $22, tax included. The cost of a bundle of No.  

1, 2 and 3 is $60, tax included.

MONTICELLO ELEMENTARY SBDM

    The Monticello Elementary SBDM will meet on the second Tuesday of  

each month at 5:15 p.m. in the Media Center.



WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION

    Wayne County Adult Education is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday,  

Wednesday and Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. All

WAYNE COUNTY HORSEMAN’S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH

    The Wayne County Horseman’s Association would like to invite you to  

join them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the  

Rescue Squad building located on Boone Street, Monticello, Ky. Our  

focus is a shared interest in the horse. Membership, however, does  

not require horse ownership.

    There is diversity in our annual activities which include horse  

shows, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas party  

and participation in community events. As a result of our fundraising  

efforts, we provide continuing education scholarships. For more

MT. PISGAH CEMETERY FUND

    If you have any family or friends buried in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery

    The Wayne County Family Resource Center Advisory Council conducts  

meetings on the second Wednesday of every other month at 12 noon in  

the Family Resource Center office at Bell Elementary.

    

WAYNE COUNTY REPUBLICAN WOMEN MEETINGS

    The WRW (Wayne Republican Women) meets the second Tuesday of each  

month at 5 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. Everyone interested in

COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS LAKE CUMBERLAND CHAPTER

    A local chapter of The Compassionate Friends has been started in the  

Monticello area. The Compassionate Friends is a mutual assistance,  

self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to  

families who have experienced the death of a child. The organization  

welcomes bereaved parents, adult siblings, grandparents, and  

immediate family members to its meetings.

    Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Monticello  

United Methodist Church, 145 Michigan Avenue at 7 p.m. For additional

OPEN GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

    An Open Grief Support Group, hosted by Hospice of Lake Cumberland,  

will be held the second Monday of every month from 6-8 p.m., EST at  

the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Monticello office, located at 1219  

North Main Street, Suite 5.

    Old Charity Cemetery is in need of donations for the mowing of the  

grounds. Anyone who has family buried there is asked to contribute to  

the cemetery fund. For new burial, it is encouraged that donations be

DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS

    The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 105 and Auxillary meets the  

first Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens Center  

on Columbia Ave. All veterans welcome.



MONTICELLO MS GROUP

    Monticello MS Group will have their monthly meeting on the first  

Thursday of every month at Rosa’s at 6 p.m.

        

STATE SERVICE OFFICER FOR DAVs WILL BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER EACH  

WEDNESDAY

    Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans,  

will be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m.  

until 3 p.m. Any veterans or dependents in need of assistance should  

stop by during these hours.

                                                            

NEW COVENANT FELLOWSHIP

    New Covenant Fellowship, located in the Bell Subdivision, is  

beginning a church van ministry. Anyone who needs a ride can call

SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER ACTIVITIES

    The Wayne County Senior Citizens Center offers a variety of  

activities: grocery shopping, monthly blood pressure checks, day and  

afternoon shopping trips, an annual health clinic, exercise daily,  

health and nutrition speakers, transportation to and from the center,  

well-balanced meals served at 11:30 a.m., Canasta Club and Rook card

    NAMI of Somerset Support Group meetings are the first and third

    The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday  

from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There is a  

service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and a Saturday Intercessory prayer is  

held at 4:30 p.m. The Life Abundant Ministry healing room provides a  

different guest speaker every Tuesday evening service.
