THE ARC OF LAKE CUMBERLAND MEETING
The ARC of Kentucky works to ensure a quality of life for children
and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is
accomplished by focusing on P.E.O.P.L.E. (Protecting rights,
Encouraging inclusion, Optimizing supports, Promoting choice, Lifting
exceptions, Educating communities). The monthly meeting is the fourth
Thursday at Golden Corral in Somerset, Ky. at 12 noon. The next
meeting is January 26.

AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE SITE IS NOW OPEN
The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site in Wayne Co. is located in the
basement of the Monticello City Hall. The site will be open January
31-April 10 on a walk-in basis on Tuesdays only from 1-5 p.m.
Please bring the following with you when you come: copy of last
year's income tax return(s); W-2 forms from each employer;
unemployment compensation statements; SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social Security benefits; all 1099 forms showing interest and/or
dividends and documentation showing original purchase price of sold
assets; 1099-misc. showing any miscellaneous income; 1099-R if you
received a pension or annuity; all forms indicating federal income
tax paid; dependent care provider information (name, employer ID or
Social Security number); all receipts or canceled checks if itemizing
deductions; Social Security cards for yourself and all dependents;
government-issued photo ID for yourself and spouse.
CUMBERLAND FARM PRODUCTS ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP
MEETING
Cumberland Farm Products annual membership meeting will be held on January 23 at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held at the Wayne County Extension Office in the Georgia Burton meeting room.
ELDER ABUSE MEETING
The Regional Meeting of the Lake Cumberland Area Development
District Elder Abuse Council will be on January 26. The meeting will
start at 10 a.m. CDT in the Lake Cumberland Area Development District Conference Room in Russell Springs.
All public officials, law enforcement officials and concerned
citizens against elder abuse are encouraged to attend and become
involved.

BENEFIT GOSPEL SINGING
There will be a Gospel Singing to benefit Dylan Decker, a 9-year-old
who has Chronic Bilateral Hydronephrosis (Borderline Kidney Failure.)
The benefit will take place on Jan. 21 from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at the
ARC Christian Fellowship across from Steubenville Baptist Church on
Old HWY 90.
Dylan's condition requires his family to make multiple trips to
Lexington for treatments. All proceeds will be given to the Decker
family for medical and travel expenses.
Some of the performers will include: Amanda Neeley, Julie Bryant,
Beth Neeley, The Singing Evangelist, The Fall Creek Boys and many
more ACMA Gospel Singers.

Free Crockpot Cooking and Coupon Swap will be held in the upper
level Georgia Burton room at the Wayne County Extension Office on
Tuesday, Jan. 17, beginning at 6 p.m. Enjoy sampling great recipes,
learning how to use your slow cooker/Crockpot and different ways to
save money. Bring coupons to swap, money saving or Crockpot ideas to share and coupons that have expired in December or January to send to our overseas military troops.|
URGENT INFORMATION FOR SENIORS, PARENTS

Student Aid (FAFSA).

VETERANS ASSISTANCE OFFICER TO ASSIST AREA VETERANS
Gary D. Jones, Field Representative for the Kentucky Dept. of
Veterans Affairs, will be available to assist veterans in Wayne Co.
at the National Guard Armory on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Veterans and their families will be provided counseling and
assistance in filing claims for state and federal benefits. This is a
free service provided by the state.
Veterans should bring a copy of their DD214 (record of military
service) with them, if they have it and any other documents they feel
could help their claim.

SCHOOL CANCELLATIONS FOR INCLEMENT WEATHER
According to Superintendent Gary Abbott, when inclement weather or
other emergencies cause Monticello Independent School to cancel
classes, the announcements will be made through various media outlets.
Decisions will be made as soon as possible based on administrators'
analysis of current conditions and meteorological forecasts. Mr.
Abbott states that he realizes parents need ample time to make
alternative arrangements, and the school will attempt to announce
school closings as early as possible on days with questionable weather.

local radio stations: 101.7 (WKYM), 93.1 (WMKZ), 1360 AM (WFLW), and
Lexington television stations (channels 18, 27 and 36.)

FREE EXERCISE CLASS
All senior ladies in the community are invited to attend free
exercise classes at the Nazarene Church Family Life Center on HWY 90.
We will have instructor led classes with age appropriate exercises on
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 a.m. The exercises will focus
on endurance, strength, balance and flexibility. These sessions will
also include a time of devotion and prayer. The goal is to strengthen

LIVING WELL WITH DIABETES CLASSES
Living Well with Diabetes, a four class series, will be offered for
free by the Wayne County Health Department. Classes will be from
1-3:30 p.m. on February 6, 13, 20 and 27.
An evening class will also be offered. Class four will be from 5-7
p.m. on Monday, January 23.
A graduate class, an advanced class for those who have completed the
four class series, will be from 10-11 a.m. on February 6, covering
the topic of protecting your kidneys.

FSA REDUCING NUMBER OF MAILINGS SENT TO PRODUCERS
Farm Service Agency is reducing the number of mailings sent to
producers. In the future, many announcements and reminders will be
done electronically. Farmers and other FSA customers are encouraged

WAYNE COUNTY HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH
The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to

focus is a shared interest in the horse. Membership, however, does
not require horse ownership.
There is diversity in our annual activities which include horse

A local chapter of The Compassionate Friends has been started in the
Monticello area. The Compassionate Friends is a mutual assistance,
self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to
families who have experienced the death of a child. The organization
welcomes bereaved parents, adult siblings, grandparents, and
immediate family members to its meetings.
