PUBLIC OCCURRENCES

Monticello — SINGING AT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

There will be a special singing at Zion Baptist Church off of Hwy. 790,

on the Zion Road in Delta, Ky. Guest singers will be Kentucky Mountain Trio

from Pine Knott, Ky. The singing will be on Saturday March 6 at 6 p.m.

Everyone is invited to attend. Pastor is Bro. Denzil Jones.



DADD LUNCHEON AND BAKE SALE

Defensive Action Against Drugs (DADD) will have a luncheon and bake

sale on Saturday March 20 at the DADD Fishing, Hunting and Boating Swap

Meet. Lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. untill 1:30 p.m. at the Armory

and the general public is welcome to come by for lunch. Admission is free to

the Swap Meet. Lunch includes BBQ pok, chips and drink for $5. Also pinto

beans, the trimmings and a drink is $3.50. Desserts will be $1 and up. DADD

ladies will have a bake sale including cakes, pies, cookies, and candy from

9 a.m.- 2 p.m. DAAD's mission is to help build a brighter, better future for

our community by offering hope, education, assistance and support to the

families of Wayne and surrounding counties by eliminating substance abuse.

CHURCH LUNCH AT NEW COVENENT FELLOWSHIP

There will be a church service lunch after 10 a.m. on the first Sunday

of each month. Please bring a covered dish. The church is located at the

corner of 1275 and Bell Lane. Pastor Terry Munsey and congregation invite

WAYNE CO. LITTLE LEAGUE SIGN-UPS

Wayne County Little League will begin sign-ups at the park office.

The following is sign-up dates: Friday, March 5 at 12-4 p.m.; Saturday,

March 6 at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Friday, March 12 at 12-4 p.m.; and Saturday,

March 13 at 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.



DEMOCRAT MEETING

The Democratic Execu-tive Committe will meet on Thursday, March 4 at 6

p.m. in the old courthouse. It is open to the public, everyone encouraged to

DISABLED AMERICAN VETERANS

The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 105 and Auxillary meets the first

Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center on Columbia

Ave. All veterans welcome.



IMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH

Immanuel Baptist Church will be holding "Kids Jam" on Saturday, March 6

at 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. There will be lots of fun, food, crafts and

THE SOMER-SETS SQUARE DANCE CLUB

The Somer-Sets Square Dance Club, Inc. is offering square dance classes

starting March 4 at Rocky Hollow Recreational Center. The classes will be

held Thursday evenings. For beginners it will be 6:30-8 p.m., then advanced

LAKE CUMBERLAND AMERICAN RED CROSS

The Lake Cumberland American Red Cross will be conducting a CPR/PR AED

and First Aid course on Saturday, March 13. This course is for any health

care provider, lifeguard and coast guard approved. For more information or

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Gary Jones, Field Representative for the Ky. Dept. of Veterans Affair,

will be available to assist veterans in Wayne County at the National Guard

Armory in Monticello. He will be there Tuesday, March 16 from 9 a.m. until

12 p.m.

Veterans and their families will be provided counseling and assistance

in filing claims for state and federal benefits. Veterans need to bring a

copy of their DD214 (record of military service) with them. This is a free

service provided by the state of Ky. If you have any questions feel free to

WAYNE COUNTY HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION

Coggins test and certificate of veterinary inspection sponsored by the

Wayne County Horseman's Association will be held Saturday, March 13 from 1-4

p.m. at the Monticello-Wayne County Memorial Park. Services will be provided

by Charles Daily, DVM. There will be fees for the test and veterinary

FREE CROCK-POT COOKING CLASS

The Wayne County Extension office will be having a free crock-pot

cooking class on March 9. It will be held at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Please call

PARENTING CLASSES

PEP (Promoting Effective Parenting) classes will be held Monday nights

thru April 26. The classes will be held 6:30 until 8 p.m. These classes are

free for parents or anyone involved with children. Door prizes each night,

SWAP MEET

Fishing Bait and Tackle, Boat Accessories and Hunting Equipment. Buy,

sell or trade at the National Guard Armory on March 20. Doors will open at 9

Against Drugs (DAAD). WAYNE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

The W.C. Humane Society will hold their next meeting Thursday, March 11

at 6 p.m. It will be in the basement of the Wayne County Library. All

members are reminded to attend and any person interested in animal welfare

in Wayne County is encouraged to attend.



LAKE CUMBERLAND DISTRICT BOARD HEALTH

There will be a meeting of the Lake Cumberland District Board of Health

on Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. (EST). The meeting will be held at the Lake

Cumberland Area Development office in Russell Springs.



LCADD REGIONAL WATER MEETING

The LCADD Regional Water Management Plan-ning Council will meet on

Thursday, March 11 at 10 a.m. (CT) in the large conference room of the Area

THE GATHERING

FREE TAX HELP

The AARP Tax-Aide site will be open at 1 p.m. in the basement of the

Monticello City Hall. The site will remain open on a walk-in basis on

Tuesdays only from 1-5 p.m. through April 13.

The AARP Tax-Aide program was created to meet this need and to help low

and middle-income taxpayers prepare and file their income tax returns with

the IRS, free of charge. Answers to tax questions are not available by

phone. Please bring the following with you when you come. Copy of last

year's income tax return; W-2 forms; Unemployment statements; SSA-1099 form;

All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B, etc.); 1099-misc.; 1099-R; All

W.C. HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH

The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership. There is diversity in

our annual activities which include a spring and fall horse show, monthly

trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas Party and participation in

community events. As a result of our fund raising efforts, we provide

AMERICAN REDCROSS

The American Redcross is accepting monetary donations to support

earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Potential donors wishing to support this

disaster may designate their gift to Haiti Relief.

MONTICELLO MS GROUP

The Monticello MS Group monthly meeting will be temporarily moved to

McDonalds in Monticello. The meetings take place the first Thursday of each

month. Everyone interested is invited to attend.



FOREIGN BUYERS NOTIFICATION

The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) requires all

foreign owners of U.S. agricultural land to report their holdings to the

Secretary of Agriculture. Foreign persons who have purchased or sold

agricultural land in the county are requred to report the transaction to FSA

within 90 days of the closing. Failure to submit the AFIDA report could

result in civil penalties of up to 25 percent of the fair market value of

the property.

DAAD MEETING

Come to a Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD) meeting and help take

Celebrate Recovery meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE

Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans, will

be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren't able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher's aide test.)

FAITH WEAVER FRIENDS AT ELK SPRING VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer's Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

bring your group, yourself, an instrument or just come and enjoy! We are

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a "Sit and Sew" day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come

for an hour or so and bring a project to work on.
