PUBLIC OCCURRENCES

Monticello — BAKERS OUTDOOR SINGING

Bakers Outdoor singing will be held Labor Day week-end at the White Lily

Community Park, Hwy. 1643 in Somerset. It will be held Friday, September 4

with The Royal Descen-dants, The Baker Qt. and Chuck Compton with the

Duncans. On Saturday, September 5 will feature The Milby Family. Free

admission. It will begin at 7 p.m. nightly (EST). Bring a lawn chair,

MILL SPRINGS MILL for restoration work

The Mill Springs Mill will be closed from time to time to the public for

restoration work. The mill will remain open for weekend and holiday

visitation. The work is expected to be completed by October 2009. For more

KECC GOLF SCRAMBLE

The Ky. Employees Charitable Campaign (KECC) golf scramble will be held

Tuesday, September 8 at the General Burnside State Park. The cost is $60 per

person, $200 per team, and $100 hole sponsor. Registration and deadlines is

NEAL/BLEVINS REUNION

Neal/Blevins family reunion will be held September 12 at Monticello/

Wayne County Park at the shelter house located near the park entrance.

Bring lots of food, come early and hope to see a big crowd there. Lunch

will be served around 12 noon.



WALKER ELE. SITE BASED COUNCIL TO MEET

The Walker Elementary School Based Council will meet in regular session

Tuesday, September 1 at 3:45 p.m. in the school conference room.



COWEN ANNUAL REUNION

The Ike and Lucinda Cowan 18th annual family reunion will be held on

Saturday, September 5 at the Farm Bureau Building. Dinner will be served

around 2 p.m. Everyone bring a covered dish, soda, and dessert. Everyone is

REVIVAL AT FREEDOM UNITED BAPTIST CHURCH

There will be revival services at Freedom United Baptist Church

beginning on Sunday, August 30 at 7 p.m. and will continue nightly at 7 p.m.

CHILDREN¹S QUILT CLASS BEGIN SEPT. 14

The Contented Heart Quilt Shoppe on 24 North Main Street will be

offering a weekly children¹s quilt class beginning on September 14 at 3:30,

or as soon as students can get there from school. Individuals will piece a

small wall hanging using the sewing machine and then hand quilt it. Class

BURNSIDE MASONIC LODGE BREAKFAST

The Burnside Masonic Lodge #634 annual country ham and eggs breakfast

will be Monday, September 7. It will begin at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the

Tucker Family Shelter House on Hwy. 90. The cost is $7 for all you can eat.

Proceeds will benefit Burnside Cemetery.



HOMECOMING AT LOWER TURKEY CREEK CHURCH

Homecoming will be held at Lower Turkey Creek on Sunday, August 30 at 10

a.m. Lunch will be served at 12 noon. The Believers from Clinton County and

FUN FALL HORSE SHOW IS SEPT. 26

The W.C. Horseman¹s Association and High Hopes 4-H presents an All Breed

Fall Fun Horse Show on Saturday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m. (EST). It will be

held at the Monticello/ Wayne County Park. There will be admission and

TABOR/DENNEY REUNION

The late James and Juann Taber Denney family reunion will be held

Sunday, September 6 at the Farm Bureau Building basement. Doors will open at

10 a.m., with lunch being served around 12:30 p.m. A potluck meal will be

served. All family and friends are welcome to attend.



SCHOOL REUNION FOR FREEDOM, FOSTER SCHOOLS

A school reunion for the Freedom and Foster Schools will be Saturday,

September 5 at the Freedom Church shelter house. Bring a covered dish. Lunch

will be at 12 noon. Everyone welcome.



SPAY AND NEUTER CLINIC

The Wayne County Humane Society will be sponsoring a spay and neuter

clinic on October 8-9 at the Monticello-Wayne County Park. The cost per cat

is $55 and the cost per dog is $65. There will be a limited number of free

spay or neuters available through a state grant on a first come basis for

low income families. Proof of household income must be presented at

registration, no exceptions. Sign-ups will be held at McDonald¹s on

September 3 and 24 from 4-7 p.m. Walk-in vaccinations also available. Call

COMMUNITY GATHERING AT MILL SPRINGS CHURCH

³Unity In Christ,² a community gathering for praise, worship and

fellowship at Mill Spring Christian Church on Hwy. 90, will be held on

Sunday, August 30 at 6:30 p.m. Come and share special music, message and

refreshments.



BARNES REUNION

The descendents of Othial and Siotha Barnes will hold their reunion on

September 5 at Spann Hill Baptist Church. A potluck meal will be served at 1

JONESVILLE SCHOOL REUNION

Jonesville School reunion will be held on September 6. Bring chairs,

there will be tables there. Bring enough food and drinks for your family.

Lunch will be served at 12 noon. On April 19 the school building and shelter

house was burned. There will always be good memories of the school and this

year will be sad without the school house This year a effort will be made in

rebuilding the shelter house, anyone wishing to make a donation can mail

ABBOTT/VAUGHN REUNION

The Abbott/Vaughn reunion will be held Saturday, September 5 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park in the large shelter house. A potluck lunch

will be served at 12 noon. Friends and relatives are invited.



DAVIS FAMILY REUNION

The Floyd and Rosa Davis family reunion will be Monday, September 7 at

the Bethel Baptist Church Shelter house in Parmleys-ville, Ky. It will begin

at 10 a.m. Please bring a covered dish and enjoy the fun and fellowship of

relatives and friends of the Davis family. Bring any old pictures and family

information you would like to share.



CORDELL HULL FESTIVAL

There will be a pageant at the Cordell Hull Festival in Byrdstown, Tenn.

There will be a blood drive on Thursday, August 27 from 1-4 p.m. at the

TUCKER FAMILY REUNION

The Charlie and Eliza Tucker family reunion will be held Saturday,

September 5 at Monticello/Wayne County Park in the little league shelter

house. It will begin at 3 p.m. Please bring a covered dish, pictures and

musical instruments.



CRUSADE ON THE SQUARE

Singing Evangelistic Ministries will present, ³Crusade on the Square,²

on Saturday, August 29 at 12 noon in downtown Somerset. There will be

special singing by Chuck and Phyllis Gibson.



DISHMAN/MCGINNIS FAMILY REUNION

The descendents and family of Bob and Ellie (McGinnis) Dishman will be

having their annual family reunion on Saturday, August 29 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Park in the large shelter house from 8 a.m. to 3

p.m. Please bring a side dish and enough drinks for your family. Hamburgers

and hotdogs provided.



WAYNE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY

The W.C. Humane Society will be having a yard sale on September 3, 4 and

5. Please donate your unwanted items. Monetary donations accepted. The yard

sale will be held at the storage units on Hwy. 1275, approximately 5 miles

The Anderson Reunion will be held Sunday, September 6 at the

Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park large shelter house. Everyone please

CLARK/GUFFEY REUNION

The Clark/Guffey reunion will be held Saturday, September, 5 at the

Wayne County Park shelter house, next to the playground. It begins at 12

noon.



GOSPEL JUBILEE AT PARK

Gospel Jubilee at the Monticello/Wayne County Memorial Park sponsored by

Gap Creek Baptist Church. Special singing by the Inman Family preaching,

testimonies and refreshments on Saturday, August 29 starting at 3 p.m.

REYNOLDS REUNION

The Narvel and Dosha Morrow Reynolds reunion will be held Saturday,

September 5 at the home of Radie Pendleton in the Betsey community. Lunch

OLD GLORY SCHOOL REUNION

The annual Old Glory School reunion will be held on Saturday, September

5 at the Central Union Church fellowship room. Doors will open at 3 p.m. and

W.C. CROSS COUNTRY TEAM

The W.C. Cross Country Team will be having a ³5 Miler² on September 5.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. 1 mile run will begin at 8 a.m. and the 5 mile

run will begin at 8:45 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the W.C. Cross Country

team. To register you may mail you fee of $15 by August 14 to: 5 Miler, P.O.

$20. Please make checks or money orders to W.C.C.B.C. No cash accepted. The

W.C. REPUBLICAN PARTY

The W.C Republican Party will be having a general meeting on the second

E-911 COMMENDS RESIDENTS WHO HAVE POSTED NEW ADDRESS

The E-911 Mapping and Addressing Office would like to comend those who

have posted their new address on the dwelling and on both sides of the

mailbox. Reidents who have done this and have notified correspondents of the

new E-911 address will not have any interruption in mail service. However,

if you have not notified them before December 31 you will experience mail

delays as the post office will not deliver to mail addressed with the old

address as of Janaury 1, 2010.

If you have not put your new number on your dwelling or mailbox or

notified your correspondents, please do so for your safety and to receive

uninterrupted mail service before December.





WCHS CLASS OF 1969 40TH REUNION

The Wayne County High School Class of 1969 will have their 40th year

The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday from

There will be a Pick and Play for musicians on the Meeting Place

doing to work together as partners to build a community that really cares

W.C. HORSEMAN¹S ASSOCIATION

The Wayne County Horseman¹s Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring and

fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas

Party and participation in community events like Old Fashion Days. As a

result of our fund raising efforts, we provide continuing education

Anyone having family buried at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery is asked to donate to

The ŒBetter Late Than Never¹ group of narcotics anonymous will meet on

every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night at 7:30 p.m. EST at the City Hall

AA-ALANON MEETING

AA-ALANON is meeting Monday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. at the First

Methodist Church.



CABELL GROVE UMC ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR UPKEEP OF CEMETERY

Cabell Grove United Methodist Church is now accepting donations for the

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

Perhaps you would like to share a craft at Heritage Skills Retreat at the

Kentucky Leadership Center in Jabez. For more information on these

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity will meet the second Tuesday of each month at First

Baptist Church. The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. You may park and enter at

the back of the building. This is a Christian organization that works to

The Growing Healthy Kids Coalition would like for anyone concerned with

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren¹t able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher¹s aide test.)

FAITH WEAVER FRIENDS AT ELK SPRING VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

greatly appreciated.



WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER¹S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer¹s disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer¹s Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer¹s disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

bring your group, yourself, an instrument or just come and enjoy! We are

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a ³Sit and Sew² day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come
