2-6-13 — POTTERY DATE NIGHT

    Come enjoy a relaxing evening making pottery with your date, family and/or friends on Thursday, February 14 from 6-8:30 p.m. There will be special refreshments.  A glazing session will be held on Monday, March 11. POTTERY WHEEL-THROWING FOR BEGINNERS

    There will be a pottery wheel-throwing for beginners class on Monday, February 11 and Monday, February 25 with four available class times. There will be a class from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., 1-3 p.m., 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. This workshop is designed for any beginner to learn the basic steps on how to use the potter's wheel. POTTERY/HAND BUILDING-FACE MUGS

    There will be a pottery/hand building-face mugs on Tuesday, February 12 the first session is 1-3:30 p.m. or 6 to 8:30 p.m. In this class you will be hand crafting a face mug. A glazing session will be held on Monday, March 11. For more info contact the Extension Office  at

REVIVAL AT NEW COVENANT FELLOWSHIP CHURCH

    There will be revival at New Covenant Fellowship Church located at 71 Huffaker St. (behind the courthouse) February 21 through the 23 at 7 p.m. nightly. For more info call 307-6246.



RELAY FOR LIFE FUNDRAISER

    The Wayne County Relay for Life will be conducting a gourmet apple fundraiser with yummy Rome apples dipped in caramel, then dipped in chocolate, rolled in Butterfinger crumbles and drizzled with white chocolate, that is wrapped ready for Valentine's Day. They can be delivered for free in city limits or picked up at Lifeline Home Health. Delivery orders must be placed by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11. The cost is $5. All proceeds will go the Wayne County Relay for Life. To order call 348-6000.

ANNUAL VALENTINE LUNCHEON

    The Wayne County Hospital Volunteers' Annual Valentine Luncheon will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can dine in the hospital dining room or take out. The menu consist of BBQ sandwich, baked beans, cole slaw, pickle, chips, cookie and drink for $7. Proceeds will be used for Wayne County Hospital projects. SENIORS WORK

SESSION

    Seniors and their parents are invited to drop by a work  session on February 13 12 noon to 6 p.m. at the high school. Toni Wiley will be there to help college bound students fill out financial aid forms.  

Parents are encouraged to attend and will need to bring their tax forms to assist them in filling out the forms.

WAYNE COUNTY LOCAL BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

    The Wayne County Local Board of Health will have a meeting on Thursday, February 28 at 12 p.m. at the Wayne County Health Department conference room. The purpose of the meeting will be the electing of officers, setting the health tax rate and approve the annual budget.

BLOOD DRIVE

A MISSION GOSPEL JUBILEE

    Cornerstone Fellowship Church will be having a Mission Gospel Jubilee on Sunday, February 17 at 6 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. There will be gospel music, a spaghetti supper with dessert. Cornerstone partners with The Ky. Baptist Fellowship—Extreme Build Program to build a home for a needy family in the area. All donations go to the Extreme Build Program.

    Help take back your community from drugs and treat your sweetheart to pizza while dining to donate to Denfensive Action Against Drugs.  

Dine at Pizza Hut on Monday, February 11 from 4-8 p.m. Pizza Hut will make a donation to support the activities and programs of DAAD. DAAD appreciates Pizza Hut and other individuals, businesses, organizations, media, and churches for their support.

MELANOMA CANCER BENEFIT FOR

MARK BELL

WAYNE COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER

    The Wayne County Senior Citizens Center invited everyone 60 years and older to come and join them. There is a variety of activities to choose from including: checkers, puzzles, bingo, pool table, grocery shopping. Or just come to socialize. Everyday we offer T.V., exercise (on treadmill or bike), well-balanced meals served at 11 a.m., transportation to and from center (outside city limits on certain days of the week), day/afternoon trips, card games. Blood pressure checks monthly; health clinic, annually; health and nutrition speakers and other informative speakers. If you have any questions call 348-5811.

RELAY FOR LIFE YOUTH SUMMIT

    The American Cancer Society would like to invite high school youth representatives from local school clubs, church or youth organizations to participate in a Relay for Life Youth Summit on February 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pulaski County Library.

AARP FOUNDATION TAX-AIDE PROGRAM

    AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is available free to taxpayers with low and moderate income, with special attention to those 60 and older. The AARP Foundation Tax-Aide site in Wayne County is located in the basement of Monticello City Hall. The site will be open February 5 through March 7 a on walk-in basis on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1-5 p.m. The site will be closed on February 12 due to the special election.

CHILI SUPPER FUND RAISER FOR

C/BTRY 1/623

    Charlie Battery 1/623 FA will be having a chili supper fund raiser on February 16 at 5 p.m. at the Monticello Armory to help support the needs of  the unit while they are deployed. Sage Knoll will be preforming. Tickets are available at Monticello Banking Company, Wayne County Extension Office or the Monticello Armory. If you have any questions please call the Armory.

LEARNING TO

CONTROL DIABETES CLASS

    There will be a free learning to control diabetes class held at the Wayne County Health Department on Tuesday, February 12, 19 and 26 from 1-3:30 p.m. Classes are free but pre-registration is required.

HEARTS FOR

HOSPICE EVENT

    Hearts for Hospice will be having a celebration dinner and dance on February 14 at 6 p.m. at The Rural Development Center. Hospice for Lake Cumberland will be hosting a semi-formal dinner and dance to celebrating the opening of the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. Klassic Tymes will be providing the entertainment and Fatmans BBQ will be catering.

AWANA PROGRAM AT STEUBENVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH

    Steubenville Baptist Church will be having their AWANA program each Wednesday night at Stubenville Baptist Church. The AWANA program exists for helping churches and parents worldwide raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. We look forward to seeing you and your family there. OAK GROVE COOKBOOK

BELL ELEMENTARY SBDM COUNCIL MEETING

    The Bell Elementary SBDM Council conducts regular monthly meetings on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. in the school library.

ANTI-DRUG MEETING

    Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD) meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. Anyone may attend the meeting and help with and learn about substance abuse.



CELEBRATE RECOVERY

    Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered support group for anyone having hangups, habits, or needing help in any area of your life.  

Celebrate Recovery is free and meets each Thursday night at 6:30 p.m.  

at the ASPIRE Center. Come and visit and see what it is all about.



WALKER ELEMENTARY SBDM MEETING

    The Walker Elementary SBDM will meet on the first Wednesday of each month with the exception of April which will be the second Wednesday at 4:45 in the school conference room.



CABELL GROVE METHODIST CHURCH CEMETERY DONATIONS

    The 2012 Wayne County Historical Society 150th Year Commemorative Civil War Calendar is available for $10 each.

    In addition, reprints of Wayne County Times Illustrated, edited and published by Jerry Gibson Vol. 1, Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are available.

WAYNE COUNTY HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EVERY MONTH

    The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to join them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Rescue Squad building located on Boone Street, Monticello, Ky. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse. Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

    There is diversity in our annual activities which include horse shows, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas party and participation in community events. COMPASSIONATE FRIENDS LAKE CUMBERLAND CHAPTER

    A local chapter of The Compassionate Friends has been started in the Monticello area. The Compassionate Friends is a mutual assistance, self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to families who have experienced the death of a child. The organization welcomes bereaved parents, adult siblings, grandparents, and immediate family members to its meetings.

    Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at Monticello United Methodist Church, 145 Michigan Avenue at 7 p.m. For additional information contact Jenny West, Chapter Leader at 340-1955.



OPEN GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

    An Open Grief Support Group, hosted by Hospice of Lake Cumberland, will be held the second Monday of every month from 6-8 p.m., EST at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Monticello office, located at 1219 North Main Street, Suite 5.

    Monticello MS Group will have their monthly meeting on the first Thursday of every month at Rosa's at 6 p.m.

        

STATE SERVICE OFFICER FOR DAVs WILL BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER EACH WEDNESDAY

    Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans, will be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m.  

until 3 p.m. Any veterans or dependents in need of assistance should stop by during these hours.

                                                            

NEW COVENANT FELLOWSHIP

    The Wayne County Senior Citizens Center offers a variety of

    The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and on Thursday from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. There is a service on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and a Saturday Intercessory prayer is held at 4:30 p.m. The Life Abundant Ministry healing room provides a different guest speaker every Tuesday evening service.
