PUBLIC OCCURRENCES

Monticello — SAFE TRICK OR TREAT

The W.C. Fiscal Court will host the Safe Trick-or-Treat night at the

ASPIRE Center for Halloween. Any business or organization interested in

participating can contact the County Judge/Executive office at 606-348-4241.



TRUNKS-N-TREATS AT FROGGY BOTTOM

Trunks-n-Treats at Froggy Bottom on October 31 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.

There will be free set-up for many booths, there will also be many youth

groups performing and much more excitement. For more information call

HAUNTED HOUSE

Everyone is invited to come join the fun of a haunted house, all ages

welcome. It will be held on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 from

8 p.m. until 12 a.m.

The event will be held on Gibson Street, but parking will be in the old

Rankins Grocery building. There will be an admission charge.

There will also be a costume contest, which will be open to all ages.

Make sure to wear something old in case it gets dirty.



FALL HARVEST AT FIRST CHURCH OF GOD

First Church of God will be having a Fall Harvest Festival and Youth

Fundraiser on Saturday, October 31 beginning at 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. There

will be a free pinto bean supper, hay rides, and treats for the kids. For

REVIVAL AT MT. ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

Bro. David Sargent from Freedom Baptist Church will be holding revival

on November 15-18 at 6:30 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Everyone is

TOBACCO BUY-OUT TRANSITION PAYMENT

The next payment for Tobacco Transition Payment Program (TTPP) also

known for the "Tobacco Buy-Out" is scheduled to be made in January 2010.

HAZARD MITIGATION PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE TO MEET

The Wayne County/Monticello Hazard Mitigation Planning Subcommittee will

meet on October 28 at 10:30 (EST) at the Wayne County Courthouse in the

small court room. The meeting will discuss hazard identification and hazard

profiling and vulnerability/inventory assessment.

CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Take a stand against domestic violence, join us for a candlelight vigil

on Thursday, October 29 at 6 p.m. It will be held at the Monticello-Wayne

County Memorial Park gazebo.



TRUNK A TREAT AT OAK GROVE

Oak Grove Baptist Church is having Trunk a Treat on Saturday, October 31

from 5-8 p.m. Bring your kids and let them receive candy from decorated

trunks of cars.



DAAD MEETING

Come to a Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD) meeting and help take

back your community from drugs. DAAD meets each fourth Thursday night at

6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. The meetings are free and open who would

like to attend.



CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE

Center. Celebrate Recovery is a free Christ centered support group for

STATE SERVICE OFFICER WILL BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER EACH WEDNESDAY

Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans, will

be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Any veterans or dependents in need of assistance should stop by during these

hours.



MS SUPPORT GROUP MEET THURSDAY

The MS Support Group will meet at the Wayne County Hospital in the

conference room. This group meets the first Thursday of every month. For

AWANA PROGRAM TO BEGIN AT STEUBENVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH

E-911 COMMENDS RESIDENTS WHO HAVE POSTED NEW ADDRESS

The E-911 Mapping and Addressing Office would like to commend those who

have posted their new address on the dwelling and on both sides of the

mailbox. Residents who have done this and have notified correspondents of

the new E-911 address will not have any interruption in mail service.

However, if you have not notified them before December 31 you will

experience mail delays as the post office will not deliver to mail addressed

with the old address as of January 1, 2010.

If you have not put your new number on your dwelling or mailbox or

notified your correspondents, please do so for your safety and to receive

uninterrupted mail service before December.



MONTICELLO MASONIC LODGE TO HOST "ALL YOU CAN EAT" BREAKFAST

Monticello Masonic Lodge #431 will be having an "All You Can Eat"

breakfast the second Saturday of each month from 7-10:30 a.m. Everyone is

The Life Abundant Ministry (LAM) Healing Rooms are open on Tuesday from

W.C. HORSEMAN'S ASSOCIATION

The Wayne County Horseman's Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring and

fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas

Party and participation in community events like Old Fashion Days. As a

result of our fund raising efforts, we provide continuing education

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

Perhaps you would like to share a craft at Heritage Skills Retreat at the

LAKE CUMBERLAND FAMILY CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

Habitat for Humanity will meet the second Tuesday of each month at First

Baptist Church. The meetings will begin at 6 p.m. You may park and enter at

the back of the building. This is a Christian organization that works to

better the community.



CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP

Quest Community Services, Inc. will provide a free family caregivers

GROWING HEALTHY KIDS COALITION

The Growing Healthy Kids Coalition would like for anyone concerned with

our children's health to come to Coalition meetings. Come and share your

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren't able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher's aide test.)

FAITH WEAVER FRIENDS AT ELK SPRING VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

greatly appreciated.



WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER'S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer's disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer's Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

bring your group, yourself, an instrument or just come and enjoy! We are

located in the Gateway Center, 650 N. Main St., corner of Highway 80 in

Somerset, Ky., just about 1/2 mile East of Highway 27.

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a "Sit and Sew" day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come

for an hour or so and bring a project to work on.

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have their regular monthly meeting the

third Monday of each month at 12:30 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Visitors are

24-7 hotline that can give you a phone number to reach out for help.

Through the Vision 2000 project, the phone line has been established to

help Wayne County and Monticello residents get help by finding out who to

Donations are needed for the Buck cemetery at Powersburg. They will be

used to make and rebuild old tombstones that are broken and to fence in the

The Wayne County Conservation District Board of Supervisors has changed

their regular meeting time to 6:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month.

The meeting is held at the USDA Service Center, 78 Barnes Dr., Monticello,
