Monticello — WAYNE COUNTY LITTLE LEAGUE ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING

Wayne County Little League will hold its organizational meeting Tuesday,

February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall meeting room. All interested in

coaching or being involved in this program are welcome (encouraged) to

attend.



W.C. HORSEMAN¹S ASSOCIATION MEETS FIRST FRIDAY OF EACH MONTH

The Wayne County Horseman¹s Association would like to invite you to join

them on the first Friday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the conference room

of the Wayne County Library. Our focus is a shared interest in the horse.

Membership, however, does not require horse ownership.

There is diversity in our annual activities which include a spring and

fall horse show, monthly trail rides, picnics, Coggins testing, Christmas

Party and participation in community events. As a result of our fund raising

efforts, we provide continuing education scholarships. For more information,

LAKE CUMBERLAND DISTRICT BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING

There will be a meeting of the Lake Cumberland District Board of Health

on Tuesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. (EST). The meeting will be held at the Lake

Cumberland Area Development office in Russell Springs.



1960 WCHS CLASS REUNION MEETING

The WCHS 1960 class members will hold a meeting Saturday, February 27 at

1 p.m. at Shearer¹s Buffet regarding the 50 year reunion plans.

W.C. HOMEMAKERS CHILI SUPPER

The Wayne County Homemakers chili supper has been postponed until

Friday, February 26. It will be held from 4-8 p.m. Adults will be $5 and

children $3.



RUNNERS CLUB MEETING

All runners interested in creating a local runners club is encouraged to

come to a meeting at Wendy¹s on Saturday, February 20 at 10:30 a.m.

Beginners and intermediate runners welcome, must be 18 years of age. If

WAYNE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

The W.C. Board of Health will be having a meeting on Thursday, February

18 at 12 noon at the W.C. Health Department in the conference room.



RALLY IN FRANKFORT

Working to restore America of Kentucky. There will be a rally in

Frankfort on February 20 at 12 p.m. on the capital building steps. For more

RALLY AT ASPIRE CENTER

The Wayne County Association of Southern Baptist will have a Find it

here really on February 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center in Monticello.

Don Mathis will be the speaker, he has done many revivals in the Monticello

area. He is currently the president of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.

Many of the churches of Wayne County Association will move their Sunday

evening service to the ASPIRE Center.

We welcome all to attend this great time of worship and challenge as we

endeaver to take the Gospel to each home in Wayne County.



LCADD REGIONAL WATER MEETING

The LCADD Regional Water Management Planning Council will meet on

Thursday, March 11 at 10 a.m. (CT) in the large conference room of the Area

CHILDREN¹S ADVOCACY DAY

Lake Cumberland Children¹s Advocacy Center and Lake Cumberland Community

Action Agency will be transporting anyone who has an interest in advocating

children to Frankfort on February 18 for Children¹s Advocacy Day. For more

THE GATHERING

FREE TAX HELP

The AARP Tax-Aide site will be open at 1 p.m. in the basement of the

Monticello City Hall. The site will remain open on a walk-in basis on

Tuesdays only from 1-5 p.m. through April 13.

The AARP Tax-Aide program was created to meet this need and to help low

and middle-income taxpayers prepare and file their income tax returns with

the IRS, free of charge.

Answers to tax questions are not available by phone. Please bring the

following with you when you come.

Copy of last year¹s income tax return; W-2 forms; Unemployment

statements; SSA-1099 form; All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-B,

etc.); 1099-misc.; 1099-R; All forms indicating federal tax; Dependent care

AMERICAN RED CROSS ACCEPTING DONATIONS FOR HAITI

The American Redcross is accepting monetary donations to support

earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. Potential donors wishing to support this

disaster may designate their gift to Haiti Relief.

SPECIAL SINGING AT ZION BAPTIST CHURCH

Zion Baptist Church will be having special singer Chimney Rock Boys on

February 20. It will begin at 6 p.m. The church is located on Hwy. 790 Zion

Rd., Delta, Ky. Everyone is invited to attend.



MONTICELLO MS GROUP

The Monticello MS Group monthly meeting will be temporarily moved to

McDonalds in Monticello. The meetings take place the first Thursday of each

month. Everyone interested is invited to attend.



FOREIGN BUYERS NOTIFICATION

The Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) requires all

foreign owners of U.S. agricultural land to report their holdings to the

Secretary of Agriculture. Foreign persons who have purchased or sold

agricultural land in the county are requred to report the transaction to FSA

within 90 days of the closing. Failure to submit the AFIDA report could

result in civil penalties of up to 25 percent of the fair market value of

the property.



FREE DIABETES CLASSES AT W.C. HEALTH DEPARTMENT

Living Well with Diabetes free classes will be held at the W.C. Health

Department. It will be held on Wednesday¹s February 17 and 24 beginning at 1

DAAD MEETING

Come to a Defensive Action Against Drugs (DAAD) meeting and help take

back your community from drugs. DAAD meets each fourth Thursday night at

6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE Center. The meetings are free and open who would

CELEBRATE RECOVERY

Celebrate Recovery meets each Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the ASPIRE

Center. Celebrate Recovery is a free Christ centered support group for

anyone who has hurt, habits, or hangups which includes just about all of us.

STATE SERVICE OFFICER WILL BE AT SENIOR CITIZENS CENTER EACH WEDNESDAY

Donnie Blevins, Service Officer for the Disabled American Veterans, will

be at the Senior Citizens Building every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Any veterans or dependents in need of assistance should stop by during these

hours.

SHARING THE LOVE OF CRAFTS

There are many opportunities to share your love of crafts in Wayne

County. You may want to be a part of the Homemakers Craft Club which meets

each second Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Rescue Squad. Each month the club does

a different craft. You may want to share a craft that you know with others

in the community. The Extension Service can connect you with learners.

WAYNE COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION CENTER

Wayne County Adult Education Center has resumed classes on Tuesday and

Thursday evenings until 7 p.m. This will give an opportunity to individuals

who aren¹t able to attend day classes. The center is open weekly on Monday,

Wednesday, and Friday from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 8 a.m.-7

p.m. Our Family Literacy program offers Parent and Children Together (PACT)

Time on Tuesdays 3 p.m.-5 p.m. with homework help for school age children

and Wednesdays from 1 p.m.-2 p.m. There will be Baby (PACT) Parent and Child

Together Time.

Classes are always free. We offer many opportunities for you at the

Adult Education Center: earn a gold or silver employability certificate

through Work keys; earn a G.E.D.; learn to read; upgrade basic general

education skills; learn to type; learn basic computer skills; study for

drivers or CDL permit; enroll in family literacy; learn English as a second

language; or Kentucky Para-Educators Assessment (teacher¹s aide test.)

FAITH WEAVER FRIENDS AT ELK SPRING VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH

WAYNE COUNTY COMMUNITY HEALTH COUNCIL

The Wayne County Community Health Council (Local Champions Against Drug

Use) meets the fourth Wednesday of each month at 12 noon in the Wayne County

Hospital cafeteria meeting room. Come a little earlier and enjoy lunch.

Health-related agencies and concerned citizens are both welcome. Be a part

of helping set community wide health goals and complete projects. To date

the council: has conducted and published two community health surveys and

held community health fairs targeting needs identified on health surveys;

serves as local Champions Groups; garnered an estimated $40,000 for Wayne

County to use towards drug education and prevention efforts; and continues

to develop and distribute educational material related to drug prevention

efforts, parenting tips, health habits, etc.



THE HOPE CENTER

The Hope Center is in need of the following items‹paper products,

cooking and baking food items, canned foods and meats, diapers, nice

bedding, dishes and towels for our burn out room. Any donations would be

greatly appreciated.



WAYNE COUNTY SADDLE CLUB

The Wayne County Saddle Club meeting time has been changed from the

third Monday of the month to the third Tuesday of the month. We invite all

horse lovers to join our club and meet with us.



ALZHEIMER¹S ASSOCIATION

Alzheimer¹s disease is a progressive, degenerative disease which attacks

the brain. It is the most common form of dementia and its causes are

unknown. More than four million Americans are diagnosed with the disease.

The Alzheimer¹s Association would like to announce a support group for

family members and caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer¹s disease. This

monthly support group will meet at the Russell Springs Active Day Center in

Russell Springs, Ky. the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The setting is

a small discussion group with an emphasis on sharing feelings, thoughts and

experiences.



FREE GOSPEL JAM AT ROCK WORSHIP CENTER

The Rock Worship Center in Somerset, Ky. sponsors a free Gospel Jam,

cafe style, every Friday night at 7 p.m. EST. All are welcome, come and

bring your group, yourself, an instrument or just come and enjoy! We are

located in the Gateway Center, 650 N. Main St., corner of Highway 80 in

FREE FOREST STEWARDSHIP PLANS FOR PRIVATE WOODLAND OWNERS

The Kentucky Division of Forestry prepares Forest Stewardship Plans for

private woodland owners as a free service.

At your request, a forester will walk over your property with you while

explaining the condition of your woodland and listening to your objectives.

The forester will then make recommendations to help you set and achieve

management goals for your forestland. The recommendations will be summarized

in the Forest Stewardship Plan which will include information on timber

production, fish and wildlife management and management for recreation,

aesthetics and water quality.

SIT AND SEW

Contented Heart Quilt Guild will have a "Sit and Sew" day each first

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Quilt Shoppe. Anyone is invited to come

for an hour or so and bring a project to work on.

Through the Vision 2000 project, the phone line has been established to

help Wayne County and Monticello residents get help by finding out who to
