The Wayne County Sheriff's Office seized and destroyed 65 marijuana plants from a patch found last week on Highway 1258.
Deputies with the department were operating on a tip when they searched the remote area and discovered the large plants. The Sheriff's Department also seized four more plants that were found on the Foster Mountain Road, as they were working the tip on Tuesday, October 4.
Deputy Robert Ellis estimated the street value of the plants at about $2,500. One of the plants was more than seven feet tall.
He said no arrests have been made in connection with the discovery, but the investigation is continuing.
Also involved in the seizure were: Deputy Adam Dodson, Deputy Jerry Coffey, and Deputy Jordan Carter.
The plants were later burned by officials.
