Snow birds
Monticello — A male and a female cardinal perched on a shrub Monday morning as snow fell softly around them. Wayne County woke to a snowy landscape Monday, as flurries fell throughout the early hours. Local school children got an extra day of vacation, as classes were cancelled because of the cold and the snow.

Wanda Barber, who was a secretary at Big Sinking Elementary, looked at pictures with Bernice and Wilma Dick, who spent much of their teacher careers at the school.
