Help tell the story of the Battle of Mill Springs

Monticello — The Mill Springs Battlefield Association is inviting the public to help tell the story of the Battle of Mill Springs. The organization needs input on what visitors would like to see at the battlefield, about walking trails, programs and events.

The information is important to the Battlefield Association, which has received a grant from the American Battlefield Protection Program (ABPP) to create a new interpretive plan.

To make it easier for anyone interested to attend, meetings will be held in both Pulaski and Wayne counties. The Pulaski County meeting will be held at the Mill Springs Visitor Center in Nancy on Tuesday, June 23 at 6 p.m.

The Wayne County meeting will be held at the Brown-Lanier House in Mill Springs on Wednesday, June 24 at 6 p.m.

The meeting will last about one hour.

Joseph and Maria Brent of Mudpuppy & Waterdog, Inc., a public history consulting firm based in Versailles, Ky., will conduct the meetings. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have concerning the interpretive plan.

ABPP grants are difficult to secure and are given to selected sites nationwide after a very competitive process. It is important for the future of the battlefield that the Battlefield Associa-tion receives input from a large number of people in the community.
