Monticello — Local veterans will be honored on Wednesday, November 11 with the annual
parade on Main Street in downtown Monticello. The procession is set to begin
at 10 a.m. at Hickey and Son Funeral Home. It will travel along Main Street
to the Doughboy, where a patriotic ceremony will be held.
Guest speaker for this year's ceremony will be Court of Appeals Judge
Mike Caperton. There will also be special singing and music to pay honor to
the veterans.
All veterans are encouraged to participate, and the community is
encouraged to attend the festivities and show support for the men and women
that have served in the military to protect this country's freedom.
In case of inclement weather, the festivities will be held at the Wayne
County High School gymnasium beginning at 11 a.m. It is sponsored by the
Wayne County Disabled American Veterans and the Wayne County JROTC.
