Monticello — Work on the Monticello Streetscape Project is scheduled to begin on December 9, according to Monticello Mayor Kenneth Catron. The project will include the relocation of all utilities underground, as well as several other improvements in the downtown area.
A preconstruction meeting for the project was held on Tuesday, November 24. The project was awarded to two separate companies. Dixon Electric, from Lexington, has been awarded the electrical portion of the bid in the amount of $455,000.
Hildon, Inc., of Burkesville, was awarded the bid for the remainder of the project. Their bid was $550,000.
Catron noted that once the project begins, work is scheduled to be completed within 150 days or approximately six months.
