Monticello — Four people were arrested on Thursday, February 11 after officers
discovered two active meth labs on Ridgewood Avenue.
According to the Monticello Police Department, officers went to an
address on Ridgewood Avenue to investigate a report of a fugitive from
Owensboro.
During that investigation, an active meth lab was discovered in the
apartment, along with the fugitive.
Two small children were also found inside the apartment with the meth
lab, according to officers. They were taken into protective custody by
officers at the scene and transported to the Wayne County Hospital for
examination, after which social services petitioned the court for emergency
custody.
A second meth lab was discovered in an outside trash dumpster adjacent
to the street.
Arrested were: Michael Lawson, 32, of Monticello, manufacturing
methamphetamine and controlled substance endangerment to a child fourth
degree; Sierra Hurt, 20, manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of
drug paraphernalia; Paul Douglas, 55, manufacturing methamphetamine and
controlled substance endangerment to a child fourth degree; and Donna King,
42, manufacturing methamphetamine and controlled substance endangerment to a
child fourth degree.
Lawson was also served with a Wayne County Grand Jury indictment for a
previous manufacturing methamphetamine charge.
Douglas was also arrested on drug-related charges from Owensboro.
The investigation, which includes the Monticello Police Department, the
Wayne County Sheriff¹s Department, and Operation UNITE, is continuing.
Officers were assisted by the Monticello Fire Department and Wayne County
EMS.
