9-8-10 —
Friday, September 3 is the first of six mandated state furlough days and it will affect several local agencies.
The Wayne County PVA Office will be open Friday, noted Wayne County PVA Bobby Upchurch. He said that employees in his office will be included in the executive branch furloughs and will not be in the office that day, but he will be there.
Upchurch added that the PVA's office will be closed on Saturday, September 4 and on Monday, September 6 for the Labor Day holiday.
Wayne County Clerk Josephine Gregory was originally informed that her office would be unable to conduct any business because the state computers would be down. But late last week she was notified that her office would be able to handle normal business.
Gregory said her office will be open on Friday for regular business hours. They will be closed on Saturday, September 4 and Monday, September 6 for the holiday.
Wayne Circuit Clerk Richard Morrow said his office will also be open on Friday. Originally, state officials said that the office would be unable to do any business related to licensing. But that changed late last week, when state officials notified Morrow that he would be able to use computers and issue driver's licenses.
At this point, he expects his office will be in normal operation, unless things change before Friday. Morrow's office will be closed on Saturday, September 4 and on Monday, September 6 for the Labor Day holiday.
