CARL "CURLEY" RUSSELL RAGAN

8-4-10 — April 3, 1941-July 24, 2010

Carl Russell Ragan, known to all as ³Curley², beloved and cherished husband of Alta Perdue Ragan, father of Jeff Ragan of Monticello, Ky.; Brenda Ragan Sexton (Rev. Bobby Blue Sexton) of Albany, Ky.; and Carla Ragan Suttles (Chris Suttles) of Eubank, Ky.; special father of Carl Kendrick

(Renee) of Taylorsville, Ky.; and Dwight Kendrick (Mary) of Albany, Ky.; and a special surrogate parent to over 100 foster children that he and his wife have taken into their home over the years; grandchildren-Tyler King, Matthew Sexton, Eli Sexton, Casey Sexton, Austin McGuire, Ashlee Suttles, Paige Suttles, Montana Ragan, Samantha Suttles, and Brandon Philpot; and great grandchildren-Bryant McGuire, Hannah Sexton and Noah Sexton; siblings-Jack

Ragan of Ohio; Gay Storey and Helen Statton of Indiana;   He also leaves

behind many other family members and friends that will dearly miss his wit and personality.

Preceding him in death were siblings-Grider, Granville, William ³Doc², Charles, Edgar, Ermon, and Emma Ragan and Kathy Watson.

Curley was born in Windy, Ky. on April 3, 1941 to John Bell Ragan and Bertha Guffey Ragan, the youngest of 12 children and went home to sing with the angels in Heaven on July 24, 2010, reaching the age of 69. He married the love of his life on October 6, 1962 and raised three children in a loving Christian home. He was their rock, someone to always lean on and come to for anything. Then the joys of his world, his grandchildren, came into his life and he was forever putty in their hands. He would make sure his family was always taken care of.

He enjoyed going to church, singing, tinkering with small engines, his birds and camping. He was an avid UK fan and loved watching his grandchildren play sports, especially the Wayne County Basketball and Football team, where he would always start the games off with his ³Play Ball² yell. He was such an avid fan that he was named the #1 Fan of the year in 2007 for the Wayne County Girl¹s Basketball team.

Funeral services were be held Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Bros. Danny Lawless, Leonard Correll, Bobby Sexton, and Mike Lee officiating.  Burial was in the Davis Chapel Cemetery.

Marvin S. Hicks Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
