Mintford Earl ³Beardy² Hicks was born in the Powersburg community of Wayne County, April 14, 1932 the son of the late Richie and Daisy Stinson Hicks. He departed this life suddenly, Saturday July 3rd at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington.
He is survived by his wife-Flonnie M. Hicks; seven children-Kathlene Stinson, Marlene Stringer, Harold, Jay, Lester and Dexter Hicks all of Wayne County and Tina Carter of Kathlene, Ga.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren; three step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; two sisters-Nannie Bell Pyles and Necie Dishman; two brothers-Billy and Newell Hicks with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn his passing..
He is preceded in death by a grandchild; sisters-Bertie Hancock, Grace Brown, Mary Dishman and Siney Hicks; brothers-Ramie and Sherman Hicks.
Beardy had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a member of the Denny Hollow Jesus Name Church.
The funeral service was held Wednesday morning in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Gerald Dishman and Bro. Gary Pyles officiating. Burial was in the Hicks Cemetery.
Hickey and Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
