Lora New Morrow, age 95, was born January 27th, 1915 the daughter of the late Ewell Smiley and Judy Elisebeth Keith New, the paternal granddaughter of John Tate New and Mima Ann Dodson, and the maternal granddaughter of
Green Berry Keith and Armelia Elizabeth New Keith She departed this life
Tuesday, August 10th at her home in the Delta community.
She was united in marriage with Frank Arlen Morrow who passed away March 30, 1959. To this union five children survive-Carolyn (Glenn) Correll, Bro.
Wendell Morrow, Joyce (Robert) Thompson, Edmon Morrow and Dora (David B.) Gibson. Her son Fred Morrow passed away in 2000.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren-Vieanna West, Lisa Waddle, Keith and Darren Thompson, Adam Evans, Delanna Webb and Frank Morrow; Nine great grandchildren-Ashley Absher, Aaron West, Allison Waddle, Natasha Waddle, Keonna Thompson, Katilyn Thompson, Camryn Thompson and Christopher Webb; and a great-great grandchild-Haley Lynn Absher.
She is preceded in death by her son-in-law-David W. Shelton; and two grandchildren-Judy Gail and Kevin Correll.
She was the last survivor of the Ewell Smiley New family. She was preceded in death by her sister-Dora New Dodson and brother-Johnnie Green New.
As a young lady Mrs. Morrow accepted Christ as her Savior and became a lifelong member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church where she faithfully served her Lord as a long time Sunday School Teacher and a member of the choir. She was the oldest surviving member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She was a dedicated homemaker, a meticulous housekeeper, a great cook and a very gracious hostess. She loved children and small animals and her family was the center of her life
The funeral service was held Friday, August 12 at the Cedar Hill Baptist Church with Bro. JS New and Bro. Fairell Morrow officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with Bro. Clifton Keith officiating.
